Tony Wolters joins the show & talks about knowing when his pitcher doesn’t have his best stuff. Tony says his job is to know the pitcher, and that special bond doesn’t happen overnight. Working together can be a grind for a catcher & pitcher, and DMac asks Tony what he’s learned about Marquez. Also, the variables the Rockies can’t control, the young pitchers never getting props & if showing your toes is acceptable at the dinner table. Listen to the interview HERE! Harold Reynolds of MLB Network joins the show to compare the CWS to the Minor Leagues, and tells Al & DMac what makes for a unique perspective as a hitter. Also, a reminder to Rockies fans to recognize greatness is upon us with Nolan Arenado, and realize Arenado is right there with the best in history. DMac asks what stands out about Nolan & Reynolds says everything, citing his ability to avoid strikeouts & hit in the clutch. Listen to the interview HERE!
The guys agree Ray Lewis just doesn’t do it for them as a T.V. analyst the way Trent Dilfer & his QBR analysis do. DMac asks Al what the Mike McCoy offense will look like & Al screams ‘I don’t know!’ DMac is sure Al is not over the Kubiak offense, and has a special place in his heart for Shanahan. Al says John Fox makes a lot of people around him feel comfortable, but things are different when the game is on the line, and DMac highlights the strain on the organization when it comes to Denver’s coaching carousel. Also, why football fans in Colorado are different from baseball fans.
Al & DMac put the Broncos fanbase up against the Rockies, and DMac checks out the numbers when it comes to erolling kids in baseball. Big Al asks how much DMac would spend on a Rockies game, and gets so flustered he wants to SeatGeek him. A caller says the fan-base for both is so big, the numbers are nearly impossible to compute when comparing the two sports, and DMac says he’s still on hold for Rockies ’07 playoff tickets. Also, the temperature in Phoenix trends up & Big Sexy asks the guys Who Ya Got tonight between the Rockies & Diamondbacks.
