The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Big Al is back, and what a time to return. Nolan Arenado jacks a home run to finish off the cycle on Father’s Day, and the guys are here to break it all down. Thomas Harding joins the show to tell Al & DMac about everyone saying ‘what if’ and then Nolan Arenado promptly taking the first pitch of the 9th out of the park at Coors. Also, Nuggets President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly joins The Drive to talk about close games lost last year & the uphill battle Denver frequently faced in the second half in ’16-’17.
DMac wants this to be a special year for the Colorado Rockies, and Big Al wants a return to ’07 form. DMac says there’s not even a question whether the Rockies can sustain this success through September, and Al says no question Bud Black is Manager of the Year. Thomas Harding joins the show to tell Al & DMac about everyone saying ‘what if’ and then Nolan Arenado promptly taking the first pitch of the 9th out of the park at Coors. Thomas even says that first pitch would have been a ball, and tips his cap to the Rockies lengthy lineup as a reason for Colorado’s success. Thomas reminds the guys how close the Dodgers & Diamondbacks are, and tells Al Torey Lovullo could push Bud Black for Manager of the Year. Also, what to do with a capable CarGo & when we can expect David Dahl back. Listen to the interview HERE! Also, how Von Miller remains as popular as J.J. Watt.
Big Al & DMac discuss what Broncos are bricks. DMac says there are more spaces than bricks due to all the unknowns heading into training camp. Emmanuel Sanders, Demaryius Thomas & C.J. Anderson are The Drive’s offensive bricks, and Wolfe, Ray, Miller & the No Fly Zone make up their bricks on defense. Debate rages on if Brandon Marshall & Bradley Roby are bricks, and Big Al isn’t sure we have enough to build a Super Bowl-winning team in ’17. Nuggets President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly joins The Drive to talk about close games lost last year & the uphill battle Denver frequently faced in the second half. Connelly highlights moments of disappointment & moments to be proud of, as he watches Gary Harris put up shots at the Pepsi Center. Listen to the interview HERE!
The guys laugh about how wonderful Father’s Day was, and DMac open up the phones on how the day went & if Arenado’s HR was a moment Rockies fans will never forget. The atmosphere at Coors Field was electric, and DMac reads some texts on the Total Beverage text line about classic Rockies moments like yesterday’s. Also, DMac was less than impressed with the U.S. Open & knocks the course & the lack of superstars at the top on Sunday, and Big Sexy asks the guys Who Ya Got in the CWS.
