The Drive with Chad Brown & DMac LIVE in studio! Chad’s strategy of knocking the center back would no longer work with the new NFL rule changes, and the guys break down all the shakeups these new rulings will cause. Earl Boykins joins the show to diagnose the Nuggets game right now heading into a massive matchup against the Portland Trailblazers. Troy Renck joins the show to talk about Denver’s shifted feelings about Tony Romo, and if they are prepared to take on the season without Romo at the helm.
The guys talk about touch-backs and spot changes after a free kick, as well as crack-back blocks by a backfield player in motion. The Aqib Talib rule is brought up, and DMac & Chad deliberate how much Dean Blandino will be involved. DMac says the Broncos will never beat the Saints in the fashion they did this year again. Chad brings up playing for New England for the first time this week, and DMac thinks about Pete Carroll, Bill Belichick and abstract coaching concepts heading into ’17 season. Earl Boykins joins the show, and says the Nuggets don’t seem to care as much about making the playoffs as these other teams, especially the Trailblazers. Also, Earl says the Nuggets need to find a way to match the intensity of the team they’re playing each night to remain in the race for the 8th spot.
Elway & Joseph are downplaying Tony Romo, and say they are fine with Broncos’ current QB’s. Chad exclaims so you’re saying there’s a chance?! DMac is sure Romo needs to ditch football & pursue those TV offers, and it’s not surprising that’s a better option for a 37-year-old guy. The Broncos are painting Tony Romo as a glass QB, and DMac is guessing there will be a learning curve with Vance Joseph. Also, Chad tells DMac if the Broncos pitch is even enough to pry Tony Romo from Texas. Troy says Elway is being a bit defiant, but staying humble and open to suggestions. The needle doesn’t seem to be moving on Tony Romo to Denver, but Troy remembers similar story-lines with Evan Mathis. Listen to the interview HERE!
Raiders are on their way to Las Vegas, and all of a sudden Vegas isn’t a bad place to live now. DMac says Vegas will be a fun place for Broncos fans to go to with an unbelievable new stadium and secondary market. Chad mentions the amount of things to do in Vegas, and the NFL intensely out-pricing the blue-collar fans. Listeners remind DMac of the crime rate in Vegas, and what happens in the parking lot. Also, Chris Long trends up as an Eagle, Nuggets vs. Blazers predictions & why the Broncos would even think about giving up Trevor Siemian with his low cap hit.
