Colorado Buffaloes football great Rashaan Salaam will be laid to rest Friday in Boulder, with funeral services set to be held at the Islamic Center of Boulder, 5495 Baseline Road.
The public is welcome to attend the services, which begin at noon, but those planning on attending have been asked to arrive with plenty of time to be seated before it begins.
Those in attendance are also welcome to join the funeral procession to Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Avenue, where Salaam will be laid to rest.
Those who wish to donate to Salaam’s family to help offset the burial cost and other arraignments can do so through the Buffs4Life Foundation.
Salaam, who became the school’s only Heisman Trophy winner in 1994 and was a first-round draft pick by the Chicago Bears in 1995, was found dead at a Boulder-area park Monday night. He was 42.
Boulder police are conducting a death investigation, though they said there were no signs of foul play. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office has yet to unveil the cause and manner of death.
