Should Justin Forsett start Sunday for the Broncos vs. the Titans?

In his first media session as a Denver Broncos running back, Justin Forsett said Wednesday that he didn’t know what his role in the team’s offense will be come Sunday in Nashville against the Tennessee Titans, only that he was here to “play and contribute.”
“Whenever my number is called, I’ll be ready,” Forsett said from his locker.
The club picked up the ninth-year pro with a waiver claim earlier this week after running back Kapri Bibbs landed on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
And Forsett played under head coach Gary Kubiak twice, with the Houston Texans in 2012 and his best statistical season in 2014 with the Baltimore Ravens. Kubiak served as Baltimore’s offensive coordinator that season, in which Forsett ran for 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns.
So with his experience in Kubiak’s offensive scheme, the head coach said Wednesday that he envisions Forsett to split time with Devontae Booker against Tennessee.
“The biggest thing with Devontae is — a bunch got put on his plate. I think if maybe Justin can come in and do the things I know he’s capable of doing, it takes a little bit off of ‘Book,’” Kubiak said. “That may help in a lot of ways. ‘Book’ has to play and he has to play big. I think he’s been doing a good job. He’s been getting better. I know we can help him, too.”
But 104.3 The Fan’s Football Insider Cecil Lammey — filling in Wednesday for Charles Johnson on “C.J. and Stokley” — and co-host Brandon Stokley said perhaps the Broncos should take it a step further Sunday and start Forsett.
“It’s a lot for Booker right now …. Maybe he would do better in a reserve role,” Stokley said.
“… It doesn’t diminish anything about his future or what he might be, but right now maybe just less on his plate might do him good. Coming off the bench, less carries. Justin Forsett, you are the guy. You start the game.”
Lammey said it wouldn’t surprise him if Denver went the route of using Booker off the bench, especially in a receiving running back type of role.
“He’s not just a good receiver. He’s a great receiver,” Lammey said of Booker. “He has great hands out of the backfield, and they’re barely using him. So use him as your receiving back. And use Juwan (Thompson) on your short yardage guy.”
In any case, starter or not, it can be expected that Forsett will see action Sunday against the Titans.
“I expect him to play this week. How big is that? I don’t know,” Kubiak said. “My expectations are for him to split time with ‘Book,’ just like Kapri would have.”
