After going nearly a month of the season without producing a 100-yard game on the ground, the Denver Broncos rushing attack broke out Monday in the team’s 27-9 win over the Houston Texans.
C.J. Anderson ran past the century mark for the first time in 2016, putting up 107 yards on the ground, and rookie running back Devontae Booker added 83 yards. Each had a touchdown.
And a good chunk of that190 total yards between Anderson and Booker came from outside runs, an emphasis Sports Radio 104.3 The Fan’s Broncos Insider Cecil Lammey pointed out Denver needed earlier in the week.
Both Anderson and Booker combined for 42 yards on runs outside the tackles, with two carries for Anderson and three for Booker.
Comparatively, before Monday’s game the broncos had rushed 13 times in sick games outside the tackles for 49 yards.
And on this week’s Inside the Game with Mark Schlereth, Stink demonstrates how the Broncos used a wrinkle in its rushing attack on a strong-side pitch that led to big yardage.
