Rushing game clicks in Broncos 27-9 win over Texans

For the first time in 2016, a Denver Broncos running back hit the century mark on the ground.
On 16 carries Monday, Broncos rusher C.J. Anderson scampered for 107 yards and a touchdown in the team’s 27-9 win over the Houston Texans.
After the game, Anderson said “everything was clicking” on offense, but the trick is to continue to consistent in the run game.
“We did it tonight, and we have to turn around and do it again Sunday against San Diego. Turn that around and do it on the road against Oakland,” Anderson said. “We just have to continue to keep going, keep grinding, keep preparation and focused the way we want to.”
Anderson deflected credit back to Denver’s offensive line, who struggled early with some penalties but pushed the Broncos back to a nearly 200-yeard
“We played really well up front. Our offensive line played tremendously. You have to give them all the credit,” Anderson said.
Of those 190 yards on the ground for Denver were rookie Devontae Booker’s 87 yards.
Last week, head coach Gary Kubiak said Booker had earned some more carries, but that the extra touches could help fuel motivation for Anderson.
After the game Sunday, Kubiak said echoed that statement, saying, “He’s pushing C.J. to be the best he can be, and C.J. responded tonight and played extremely well. It’s going to be really important.”
Said Anderson: “If Booker and I can keep this 1-2 punch, we can help our defense out. We can definitely go as far as we want to.”
When asked after the game if he and Anderson complimented each other well in Kubiak’s offense, Booker said, “Absolutely.”
“Him going in there and running hard, then I come in as a change-of-pace and run hard again, it’s just breaking the defense down,” Booker said. “They’re thinking that since he’s running hard, and they spell him that I’m going to come in and run soft, but it’s the same way. We’re going to just run them down.”
