Inside the Game: Miscommunication breaks down Broncos protection

Penalties played a large role in the Denver Broncos most recent loss to the San Diego Chargers last week on Thurdsay Night Football.
Denver racked up 13 yellow flags for a total of 103 yards.
“Offensively we’ve been really struggling, struggling up front and having a bunch of penalties. We have to play better,” head coach Gary Kubiak said Monday.
Tight end Virgil Green talked about seeing a lot of miscommunication on film Tuesday, saying, “Guys aren’t on the same.”
“In the first four games, when we’re communicating well, things are going well. We just have to get back to that and stick to that,” Green said.
One such instance of miscommunication came early in the fourth quarter as Denver, on its 3-yard line, trailed San Diego 19-3.
A completed pass down the sideline to Demaryius Thomas was called back after two infractions — unnecessary roughness on Green, which was declined, and holding on left tackle Russell Okung in the end zone, which resulted in a safety.
