Broncos Siemian earns ‘AFC Offensive Player of the Week’ honors

Add “AFC Offensive Player of the Week” as another first to come out of this weekend’s tilt with the Cincinnati Bengals for Trevor Siemian.
The Denver Broncos quarterback earned the honor after throwing for 312 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in a road win –– the first such time a player’s done that in his first road start in NFL history.
Siemian’s performance is also just the third time in Broncos history a quarterback’s thrown for 300-plus yards, four touchdowns and zero picks in a game. The two other instances were by future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning in a record-breaking 2013 season.
The second-year gunslinger joins a list of seven other Broncos quarterbacks to be named “AFC Offensive Player of the Week,” including John Elway (15), Peyton Manning (6), Jake Plummer (3), Brian Griese (2), Gary Kubiak (1), Jay Cutler (1), and Kyle Orton (1).
It’s the second straight week a Broncos player’s been named “Player of the Week,” as pass-rushing linebacker Von Miller was named “AFC Defensive Player of the Week” for his Week 2 performance against the Indianapolis Colts.
