Renck: Broncos’ Von Miller on Hall of Fame trajectory

Von Miller is on some kind of tear. And the NFL recognized that with a Super Bowl 50 MVP honor in February and an AFC Defensive Player of the Week honor Wednesday.

Since the start of the 2015 NFL playoffs, Miller’s been essentially “unblockable,” Denver 7 Broncos Insider Troy Renck told “Schlereth and Evans” Wednesday morning.

“We’ve seen him have games like this, I guess, but you go back to the playoffs through now, I mean, he has just been unblockable,” Renck said. “You don’t throw that term around lightly in the NFL, because they chip, they double team.”

Case and point, Miller earned a career-high three sacks Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

In his last 4 games, Miller’s racked up 17 tackles, 9 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 1 interception.

Hall of Fame-level numbers for a guy on the path potentially leading to Canton, Ohio.

“He is on the trajectory of a Hall of Fame career. It starts there,” Renck said. “Where will it end, when we start talking about Von? When you start saying a guy’s projected to make the Hall of Fame, that speaks volumes.”

Miller’s running at full capacity on both the physical and mental parts of the game, Renck said, calling the meshing of the hardware and software “frightening.”

“He’s relentless. He’s creating pressure. He’s creating havoc. His bull rush was his best I’ve ever seen,” Renck said. “… He was just absolutely physical, relentless. It reminded me of times of that sequence with Reggie White in the Super Bowl against the Patriots.”

In Super Bowl 31, Reggie White, a future Hall of Famer, dominated New England to the tune of 3 sacks.
